Mr. Riddle was watching you? Laurie, Mr. Riddle is eighty-seven!

So there's this remake that's getting worked on. Any guesses?

No? Well here, how about a few clues?

Ok, that could be anything. Here's another one. Totally giving it away, I know...

I know, everyone's like "Toto!" And you'd be right. That thing (warthog?) up there is Toto. Behold:

What THE FUCK is wrong with Todd McFarlane? Read about the wrongness of Todd McFarlane's Wizard of OZ here on FilmStalker.

Some things you don't fuck with. Wizard of Oz is one of those things.

I guess if you're going to fuck with it though, you might as well aim for CATASTROPHIC. Always good to make an impression, right?

Like when they remake Casablanca (it will happen sooner or later)--I'm calling it now: Ilsa would make a great hooker.

When they remake Casablanca, they will do something extreemly lame, like give Keanu Reeves the lead...

(...You probably won't want to talk to me for awhile, because I would totally watch that. The twisted Oz, not the Keanu Casablanca.) ;)

Skyler'sD: Or worse, Ben Affleck.

Alex: I'm not sayin' I wouldn't watch it, but it's still deeply wrong. Dorothy's tits aren't that huge and they aren't supposed to be bound up in a belt.

I don't think...

Once more, as in the mention of Pugs the other week, we seem to share one vision.
I also am cringing in a corner, banging my noggin at the news ~ and mentioned it in passing over at my place.

Some things should be sacrosanct like Casablanca, The Thin Man, Breakfast at Tiffany's, ect. I hope he loses a ton of dough. It'll discourage other remakes of classic films, even ludicrous versions like this peace of shit.

Actually, I find myself intrigued.

I totally had no idea what was going on until the end of your post, though.

Al: omg, how funny! Eerie, really.

Blanco: you mean that creature thing didn't TOTALLY look like Toto to you?? (Me neither!)

MacG: I dunno, can any of these fuckwits ever REALLY be discouraged? I hope Halloween tanks like a bitch.

Vel: Drastically different is at least SOMETHING, that's all I give it.

And once again, I'm afraid my sarcasm font wasn't on for this post, but it should have been. I thought the pics couldn't look any less like Oz.

No, you don't need the sarcasm font. It was clear that these images are nothing like Oz!

Except for Toto maybe.

They remade Casablanca already. It was called Havana, and starred Robert Redford in the Bogart role, and Raul Julia as the Victor Laslo character. Sydney Pollack directed the damn thing. Alan Arkin was also in it, and Lena Olin was the tormented chick.

This, coupled with his appearance in Little Miss Sunshine, is why I currently think Alan Arkin is the anti-Christ.

I love the Wizard of Oz, but the 1939 film is *so astonishingly different* from Baum's book that I actually think a remake could be interesting. I just object to Todd Macfarlane being the helmer. Terry Gilliam is the logical choice. Del Toro wouldn't be bad, either.

Vel: Isn't Toto the cutest thang.

CSJ: Oh well, that's a bitch. I'll try not to watch it!

And I agree a remake wouldn't be out of the question for Oz, certainly might be okay with Gilliam (a few films ago I would have said 'definitely'). This just seems like it's going to be an embarrassment.
