If you want to bless me, you'll have to bless my bottom.

Woo hoo! I got me some kegs reserved for Friday night before the wedding! I felt like a dork at first--do you really reserve kegs? But it IS Halloween weekend...apparently, the answer is yes. The dude at Mr. G's did not laugh at me. So I have two slimline kegs so that one of them can be Oktoberfest. And since they're both Sam Adams, the other is Boston Lager. May I again advocate hotels in Fort Worth? Or really, the numerous pillows, blankets, sleeping bags we seem to own.

Hans' illness remains unknown. I have been told to keep driving him. He's going to need new struts in the somewhat near future, which explains one sound maybe. At least I've been warned to get the lube (mine, not Hans') ready. Hmph. He said to give him another day with it next week and he'll keep trying. At least he didn't charge me anything...

We bought the sexiest quiver off ebay for D's costume, though it's coming from the UK so I've really got my fingers crossed. His outfit is 99% complete. I think it's funny that his outfit was so much more expensive than mine. (Though since my mother made mine, it's obviously better). I can't wait to get the jewelry set Drew's mother made for me. I hope it all works out together. Then I just have to drag Mark out to Arlington for pictures...

And I have to finish painting the dork room and the bathrooms, hopefully tonight. Starting tonight, not planning on finishing anything tonight. Not that (deluded) ambitious.

Plus I got distracted last night by Heroes and Studio 60. The former feels a bit like a Lost-type cocktease, but less so. Still watchable, eh. The latter was much better than last week's mediocre embarrassment. As always, has some good lines but it also feels like it's slowly getting its footing.

In far more exciting movie news, my dad sent me a very cool article on David Lynch, whose new movie Inland Empire should slowly trickle out to theatres in the near future. Sounds quite odd (but what a shock, I know). I've been meaning to re-visit some of his stuff, so now might be a good time. I want to re-watch Mulholland Drive and some of his early short films. Netflix seems to have all that old stuff in a collection, which is very convenient...

Also very excited that I may be in line for an eyeball cake, courtesy of the talents of Triana, at the wedding. Now that will be tasty. I'm just eager in general to start cooking pies and autumn things for the wedding. I need to make some shells for pies ahead of time. But need to finish painting first, grrr....ooh, and Alex also sent me some cannibal feasty looking ideas...not sure if I can pull any of them off but I can try! Yum. And appetizing...

I have seen (again) pictures of the eyeball cake, and I know you need this cake. It rocks. It's funny, I haven't seen Alex's site yet (I will!) but Triana and I were just talking about jello concoctions one could theoretically do....grey brains (not sure how to make grey jello, though...)...cherry hearts...I think Triana said some molds came from Archie McFee. We are running out of time, though!

How many days off of work do you have before the weekend? Any?

Kids got the fantastic cards, btw. Fabulous! LOL. Thank you :)

And I can't wait until Fiona (and Sophia!) are old enough to see Watership Down.

Oh the pressure! I have to dust off my eyeball cake skills. I told Jeff I was going to make one this weekend to practice. Problem is I don't know what group of people I can take it to to help us eat it. Work people are definitely out this time, this group isn't cool enough (the first cake was made for my coworkers at the Health Dept.).

But there's bigger questions, like what kind of cake for the inside? Hrmm....

And that also brings up: what else needs to be made? Ellen, I am your slave for that weekend! I'll cook anything you want!

Vel: I am taking off as of Thurs the 26th. did you notice how my dumbass switched the envelopes? So the big one got crammed and the little one had waaay too much room? lol, the hell was I supposed to know...

tri: I know, I bake stuff and then there's no one cool (group-wise) to help polish it off. I like one of my co-workers, but...

Gee, what color are eyes on the inside? I guess white or red? Ew, I'm done wondering. Anything sounds good! And your help is so appreciated. I plan on plying the cooks with good red wine! Any preferenes?

Yas: I have a shitload of help for the weekend OF the wedding! But everyone lives so far away! No one lives in Dallas (that I like, anyway). My fiancee helps when he can, but not only does he work a lot, he has a fairly low tolerance for work that doesn't take place at work. But when he does, he's very good! And of course we'll post pics!!

I'm so paranoid no one will come to my party the night before. Oh well, more beer and wine for me!

I'll be there putting a dent in your beer supply the night before, I promise.

And we'll be sure to give you the code word for the Guinness stash...!

Veloute said...

I'll be needing that code word as well...except...Um, I don't even know if we will be there b/c I don't know if we should bring the kids. We may have to just pop in to say hi. I forgot about the party. I'm hoping the cake is done by then...so you need a big something on the cake saying DO NOT EAT, lol!

I am such a dumbass...so chocolate buttercream, butter cake colored red...but do you want something else b/w the layers of cake besides or other than buttercream? Jelly? Is there a flavor you want besides chocolate? Ok, so maybe Thursday is bake day, yes? I can find an activity for Doug and girls...

I didn't notice the envelope thing b/c they just tore into them being the little wild things that they are.

Triana, it would be so cool to have some sort of pudding cake inside the layers of the eye cake. Moist and gooey. How one does that I am not quite sure...just spread pudding between layers? Or pastry cream (colored red, ha!)

Of course you may have the code word...and yeah, I would not bring the kids! Too many loud people. But I have three words: mom and dad! (Babysitters).

And Thursday can be bake day, Friday some too! Whatever. And I leave it all up to you guys. I mean, I'll be there to help and all but as far as cake decisions go, I completely trust you both to make cool looking yet yummy things. There's no official "party start time," just evening I would guess...it's all one big flexible thing.

Though there will be a "rehearsal" I imagine (around 3ish?) for us. Just hey, walk this way. And Fiona goes first I guess? Sprinkling flowers? I assume she'll be into this! (If not, she certainly doesn't have to do it!)

Veloute said...

Oh, she'll be into it, I think. She might be a little shy. I wonder if she would prefer holding Sophia's hand. Do you need things for them to sprinkle? I can get something while I'm there, of course.

So Mom and Dad are not coming? I wasn't sure. I will ask if they could babysit. It would be better for me to frost the cake the day/night before the wedding or possibly the morning of. Well, we'll figure it out!

There's a rehearsal?

Ellen Aim said...

That would be cuuuuuuuuute if they did it together. AWESOME. And I was just going to get rose petals or something, whatever.

Not to the party, I wouldn't think. Not really their...scene...

Morning of is fine, whatever is good for you!

By "rehearsal," I mean mostly for the girls. Then the four of you go in behind them and that's it. And my friend Derek (kiwi D) I think will be put in charge of the music. See, not much, but anytime you want any sort of planned placement of people, no matter how minor, it's best to rehearse it beforehand. If there were going to be 10 people in attendance I'd say fuck it, but I'm cramming 40 people in my living room. *takes shot of vodka* Hoping it can be done!!

(so we stand around for ten minutes and then I'm thinking off to Campo Verde for mexican lunch! very kid-friendly, crazy place down the road).
